Friend,

This year, for the first time ever, New York State has expanded access for registered voters to obtain an absentee ballot so that everyone can vote by mail in next month's primary elections. We should not have to decide between risking our health and exercising our civic duty. This is a key moment for democracy, and I encourage you to apply for an absentee ballot to ensure you remain safe and healthy while voting.

All registered voters will receive an absentee ballot application in the mail and the NYC Board of Elections has made it even easier by placing the application online. But the key is, you have to APPLY for an absentee ballot.

I hope you'll share this email with your family, friends, neighbors - anyone you know who is a registered voter. The more people know how easy it is to request an absentee ballot, the stronger our democracy will be.

Stay safe,

PS - Like many of you, I think we should allow for more mail-in voting for all our elections, not just during a pandemic. The good news is before this crisis hit, we were halfway through the process to amend our constitution to make it easier for anyone to receive a ballot in the mail. But the soonest we can get that done is in time for the 2022 elections. So for now, this is the best we can do, so make sure you apply for your absentee ballot here: www.vote.nyc/page/absentee-voting [[link removed]]
