Getting Back to Normal

On this sunny Indiana day, Hoosiers' efforts to get back to normal are making a difference. You're practicing good social distancing, good hygiene, and you're wearing face coverings when you go out.

And that's allowed Governor Holcomb to speed up our reopening process a bit, moving up the start of Phase 3 to today.

That means this Memorial Day weekend, we can enjoy social gatherings of up to 100 Hoosiers, dine in at restaurants with 50% capacity, shop in retail stores with 75% capacity, work out in gyms and go camping.

Slowly but surely, because of Hoosiers' work following health and safety guidelines, things are starting to get back to normal in Indiana, while we continue to prioritize the health of Hoosiers. And that includes in the political world as well.

This week, Governor Holcomb announced a major endorsement ([link removed][UNIQID]) from the Northwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council. And we announced that the campaign has now surpassed another milestone – more than 1 million voter contacts ([link removed][UNIQID]) this election cycle.

We're making progress -- but we can only keep this going together. As Governor Holcomb said, "Your actions add up and make a difference."

Governor Holcomb's Week That Was

Back on Track: Phase 3

Starting today, much of the state is entering P ([link removed][UNIQID]) hase 3 ([link removed][UNIQID]) of Governor Holcomb's Back on Track plan! Marion, Lake and Cass counties will go into Phase 3 ([link removed][UNIQID]) on June 1. Check out what businesses are reopening & new safety guidelines below:
* Social gatherings can include up to 100 people
* Restaurant can serve customers at 50%
* Retail stores can operate at 75% capacity
* Gyms may reopen with restrictions
* Community pools and campgrounds can open
* Recreational sports practices may begin following guidelines (contact sports will need to wait)
* Basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball courts and fields may open
* Youth summer day camps may begin
* Raceways can begin competition with no spectators
* State park inns are reopening

Along the way, Governor Holcomb has said this reopening will be data-driven, and Indiana’s guiding principles remain strong:
1. Hospitalizations – The number of Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 has dropped from 118 on April 14 to 53 on May 15.
2. Surge Capacity – 39% of Indiana’s ICU beds are currently available, along with 81% of the state’s ventilators.
3. Testing – Daily testing has increased to an average of 5,500 – 6,000 tests per day, with more than 180 testing sites ([link removed][UNIQID]) available throughout the state.
4. Contact Tracing – Indiana has more than 500 contact tracers on the job right now with a capacity for 7,500 calls each day, and that’s helping limit the virus’ spread

Governor Holcomb Earns Union Endorsement

Governor Holcomb has earned the unanimous endorsement of the Northwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council, a group of more than 30 construction unions working across Northwest Indiana. This is the first time in the council’s history that it has endorsed a Republican in a governor’s race!

The Northwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council works to promote economic development, worksite safety, and apprenticeship and journey-level training. The group comprises 31 unions and more than 35,000 highly-trained, hard-working union men and women in the construction trades.

Governor Holcomb's Reelection Campaign Volunteers
Surpassed 1 Million Voters Contacted

Governor Holcomb's reelection campaign announced that its army of volunteers throughout the state of Indiana has contacted more than 1 million voters this election cycle supporting his reelection and Republicans up and down the ballot!

Reaching this many voters in such a rapid time is a demonstration of the strength, organization, and enthusiasm of the governor’s campaign team!

Primary Election Resources

It’s almost time for the polls to open for the 2020 Indiana primary – with early in-person voting beginning next week:
* Early in-person voting begins on Tuesday, May 26. Check IndianaVoters.in.gov ([link removed][UNIQID]) to find your polling place and hours.
* Primary Day is Tuesday, June 2 – polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for in-person voting.
* If you’ve requested an absentee ballot, make sure it’s received by your local clerk or election division by noon on June 2.

2020 Indiana Republican Convention Goes Virtual

In case you missed it, last week we announced that unfortunately due to restrictions because of COVID-19, we will not be able to hold the 2020 Indiana Republican State Convention in person.

The Indiana Republican State Committee unanimously approved temporary rules ([link removed][UNIQID]) that will allow us to hold a virtual contention and mail-in voting, recreating many aspects of our in-person conventions and ensuring all delegates will be able to vote.
A few important dates:
June 2 – Indiana Primary (delegates will be elected)
June 22 – Approximate date that delegates will receive ballots from a third-party vendor
July 9 – Deadline for a delegate’s ballot to be received by the third-party accounting firm
July 10 – Ballots will be counted with watchers present, and winners will be announced
