4 years ago today, I was walking into the Capitol for my shift as a Capitol police officer.
I wouldn't know it yet, but my life was about to change forever.
I'd be attacked. Beaten with clubs, baseball bats. Sprayed with WD-40, pepper spray, bear spray. Called slurs that I'd never been called in my life.
An angry mob, emboldened by Donald Trump and MAGA-extremists pushing the Big Lie, would storm the Capitol. Never caring about the lives of me and my fellow officers. They destroyed a sacred place, an institution dedicated to upholding the rule of law. And they attempted to destroy democracy.
My life changed on January 6. It's the reason I've spent the last 4 years fighting.
Our fight for democracy is never over, especially with Donald Trump taking office two weeks from today. I need you to dig deep right now. Will you chip in a split contribution of $10 or more to Dunn’s Democracy Defenders and Forward Majority to help reach our goal before midnight tonight?
| If you have an ActBlue Express account, your donation will be processed immediately and be split between Forward Majority and Dunn's Democracy Defenders.

It's not dramatic to say that our democracy is on thin ice — but I can't save it alone.
