It's my birthaversary - I'm another year older and celebrating my one year anniversary on Columbus City Council! I am excited about the year ahead and the variety of opportunities for continued service to Columbus.
This past year was busy and productive. A few of the highlights include: launching the Getting Grant Ready Academy program to teach our small local nonprofits how to become sustainable, securing support for all five of the aging-in-place Village programs in Columbus who empower older adults to live independently, meeting with all 21 Area Commissions, hosting two Somali Town Halls and participating in numerous community events and parades across the city.
I am humbled to have Veterans Affairs added to my committee work this past summer and have been working to build relationships with Veterans organizations across the city. It has been an honor to rededicate the Linden War Memorial, host the city's Inaugural Veterans Appreciation Dinner, and launch the annual Veterans Day Community Softball Game.
It is tempting to list all of things I have done this past year but that would make for a very long email. As I embark on my second year in office, I am humbly asking you to support my work by contributing to my birthaversary fundraising campaign. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.
