January hunting and trapping opportunities
The spring turkey application period is Jan. 1 – Feb. 1. You can buy an application for $5 online, over the counter, or in the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app.

Drawing results will be available March 3. You can check your drawing results online at Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses, through the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app or by calling 517-284-9453. You are responsible for obtaining your drawing results.
Extended late antlerless firearm season in select counties in the Lower Peninsula
The late antlerless firearm deer season has been extended from Jan. 2-12 in Allegan, Barry, Bay, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Gratiot, Hillsdale, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Jackson, Kent, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Mecosta, Midland, Monroe, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oakland, Ottawa, Saginaw, Shiawassee, St. Clair (excluding Deer Management Unit 174), Washtenaw and Wayne counties, as well as DMUs 311 (Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties), 312 (Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Branch counties) and 332 (Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties).
Hunters can use a single deer license, deer combo license (regular and/or restricted tags), mentored youth license deer tag, inclusive mentored license deer tag, universal antlerless license, and/or purchase the extended late antlerless deer license for $5. You may also harvest an antlerless deer with a deer management assistance permit issued for private land in the area where you are hunting.
Hunters can harvest up to 10 antlerless deer during this season. All firearm season rules and regulations apply.
State game and wildlife areas in all counties listed are open to hunting during the extended season. Find state game and wildlife areas on Mi-HUNT.
Extended urban archery deer season in select counties in the Lower Peninsula
Archery deer hunting in the urban deer management zones of Huron, Kent, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair (excluding DMU 174), Tuscola, Washtenaw and Wayne counties is extended through Jan. 31.
Hunters can use a single deer license, deer combo license (regular and/or restricted tags), mentored youth license, inclusive mentored license or universal antlerless license. All archery season rules and regulations apply.
Hunters should verify local ordinances in the areas where they plan to hunt to ensure that hunting is allowed and to determine if only certain areas are open during the extended season. Report your harvest or see the reported harvest totals in real time at Michigan.gov/HarvestReporting. Deer hunters are required to report a successful harvest within 72 hours or before transferring possession of the deer (to another person, a processer or taxidermist).

- Cottontail rabbit and snowshoe hare: open now through March 31.
- Fox and gray squirrel (black phase included): open now through March 31.

South Zone
- Goose season: open Feb. 1-10.
- Allegan County Goose Management Unit: open through Feb. 15.

- Coyote hunting: open now through April 15.
- Fox (gray and red): open now through March 1.
- Raccoon hunting: open now through March 31.

Trapping seasons
- Coyote and fox (gray and red) trapping: open now through March 1.
- Raccoon trapping: open now through March 31.
- Opossum, skunk and weasel trapping: year-round.
