A PERSONAL NOTE
Good chilly morning, friends!
I know that for many of you, waking up to 26 degrees isn't that cold, but BRRRRRR! I've been awake for a while but didn't want to get out from under my duvet. Finally, upon the insistence of the hungry cat, I moved from my warm bed to my warm electric blanket to write you this letter.
This week, I began packing for a move (at some point - I don't know when yet.) I 've been saving up Amazon boxes for a while, and I'm going to try to make it easier for myself by packing a couple of boxes a day
until things get serious once I've saved up the deposit money to relocate. Usually, I think I'm going to be organized but at the bitter end, I'm still packing boxes at 3 am when the movers are due to arrive at 7 am. One thing I really look forward to is getting all my books out of storage and being surrounded by them again.
I worked on a new product that I released, The Prepper's Planner & Almanac, and now I've been filling out my own copy. As I pack things away, I'm creating an inventory that helps me know what requires replenishing. If you grabbed a planner, please let me know your thoughts. I'm creating a physical copy for Quarter 2 that will be out in March, and I'd love to get your feedback on what you like and what you don't like. (If you haven't grabbed one, it's a limited-time offer and ends today!)
I don't know about you, but I really wonder what to expect on Monday. A lot of folks are extremely displeased about the outcome of the election, but are they displeased enough for civil unrest? Will we see a repeat of 2021? And if so, will these people be pursued and prosecuted as diligently as those who took part at the last vote certification? I guess only time will tell,
but I think we have two dates that are going to be potentially chaotic this month - the certification on the 6th and the inauguration on the 20th. I'm really concerned for the safety of President Trump and Vice President Vance, and I hope that the Secret Service is up to the task.
Thank you for all the kind words about the story I'm working on. I had begun a different one, and I just couldn't bring those characters to life. I started on Haven Hill last week and already feel much more in touch with my characters. I really wouldn't be able to finish these novels without you guys expecting a new entry every two weeks! It's very motivating and even it if takes
me a while to finish, it will still get done.
We are prepared for a potential power outage this week as we wait for ice storms and potentially even snow, as well as bitterly cold temperatures. Hopefully, it won't happen, but if it does, we will be ready to hunker down, read books, and stay cozy. I'm quite certain now that I never want to live anywhere colder than North Carolina, as the ankle pain is pretty intense with the declining temps.
We're facing threats to our food supply from many different angles: supply chain breakdowns, drought, food facilities being ravaged by fires, skyrocketing inflation, and outright shortages. No longer can we live in the comfort of unthreatened abundance. We're learning exactly how delicate the system really is.
Prepping and putting back supplies is incredibly important but what we're seeing now goes beyond that. You have to be able to produce and acquire more food. You have to be able to put back your harvests to eat during the winter. You have to be able to prepare items that once were as convenient as popping open a can or little plastic container.
You need a paperback copy of How to Feed Your Family No Matter What, our Organic Prepper anthology with ALL of our content about food. You'll get more than 500 pages of content that are all about food when you can't just go to the store and buy whatever
you want.
