Team,
Last week, I was proud to help pass the Heroes Act to put more money in Americans’ pockets, extend unemployment benefits, provide hazard pay to frontline workers, and increase financial aid to small businesses and states and cities. With millions of Americans unemployed and food lines stretching for miles, we can’t wait.
Except Mitch McConnell and Republicans are refusing to act. House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy summed up Republican sentiment when he said, “I don’t see a need right now,” and McConnell vowed to block any unemployment extension in the next bill.
Imagine what the history books will say:
"As nearly 100,000 Americans died from COVID-19, and unemployment hit levels unseen since the Great Depression, Mitch McConnell called the Senate back to confirm more judges.
And the millions of Americans in need of help — just had to wait.”
McConnell and Republicans are turning their backs on the people they were elected to serve, in the midst of one of the most devastating economic and public health disasters in American history.
We need to make it clear to them that Americans need help – now.
Will you join me in demanding the Senate do its job and pass desperately-needed coronavirus relief through the Heroes Act today?
Republicans’ inaction and indifference to the suffering of our fellow citizens during this pandemic speaks volumes. Let’s remind them that if they don’t want to do the job they were elected to do, we know people who do, and we will vote them out this November.
Thanks,
Adam
