Protect Haitian and Nicaraguan Refugees

The situation in Haiti continues to deteriorate. In recent weeks there have been horrific reports of massacres and other senseless violence and extortion, especially in Port-au-Prince. Despite the fact that the FAA has banned flights to Haiti's international airport, the United States continues to deport Haitian migrants into extreme danger. These deportation flights go into an airport in the north, Cap Haitien, and anyone who is not from the area will then be stranded because the roads to the south are not safe.

We do not know what the next US Administration will bring. We do believe that Haitians and Nicaraguans who are here legally will be in danger of deportation, and we are urging our supporters to contact the current Administration and urge them to extend the legal status, called TPS, for another two years. We think there is a good chance the Administration will respond, and if they receive enough letters the chance is even greater. If you have not already sent a letter, please take the time to do so now, and please forward this action to your friends and colleagues. Thank you!

Report from our 2024 Trip to Mexico

In November 2024, the Quixote Center traveled to Southern Mexico with a delegation of migrant justice advocates to meet with human right defenders, asylum seekers and government officials to gain a better understanding of what migrants have to endure as they try to reach the US-Mexico border.
Quixote Center also visited Queretaro in the central region and participated in the Mexican Franciscan Network on Migration's national assembly in Monterrey where we learned more about the realities in the northern part of the country. We prepared a comprehensive report to share our findings which include the state of migrant shelters and the threats migrants face in Mexico. CLICK HERE ([link removed]) to read it.
