Dear John,
What a great time to be battling for religious freedom!
The new year has brought new opportunities in the fight for faith. And I am so thankful that you are fighting with us.
Watch this quick message on what lies ahead in 2025:
As I mentioned, one of the largest areas of impact we could have is with upcoming judicial appointments.
Let me dive a little deeper into this.
In 2016 when Donald Trump unexpectedly won the presidential election, we realized there were new opportunities to secure the future of religious freedom for our children and grandchildren.
To make the biggest impact, we decided to focus on two things:
- Educating the Trump administration and the Senate on the importance of appointing originalist judges who support religious freedom
- Vetting judicial candidates to make sure that they are men and women that will uphold the rule of law and protect constitutional freedoms
President Trump appointed 234 judges during his first term, and we have already seen the positive impact of those appointments.
Now as President Trump prepares to start his second term, we have the opportunity to impact judicial appointments again.
We estimate that President Trump could nominate 150 judges during his term. While a single case produces a single decision, a single federal judge can render thousands of decisions over thier career.
Imagine the impact of 150 judges who believe in the Constitution and religious freedom.
That’s just one reason why the outlook for religious freedom is so bright.
But as always, we have much work to do if we are going to turn this opportunity into a reality.
That’s why as we begin the year, I’m asking you to pray for three things:
- For our country and a smooth transition to the new administration.
- For First Liberty clients like Ron Hittle whose case we’re asking the Supreme Court to hear.
- For the attorneys and staff here at First Liberty as we continue to lead the fight for religious freedom for all Americans of faith.
With your prayers, support and God’s favor, we can secure the future of religious freedom for generations to come.
Gratefully,
Kelly
