John,
Today, representatives and senators were sworn into the 119th Congress.
As we know, Republicans now hold a trifecta for the next two years. But don’t let that discourage you!
Check out some of these highlights:
- Sarah McBride — a former Delaware state senator made history by becoming the first openly transgender member of Congress. Sarah is ready to roll up her sleeves to champion affordable housing, healthcare, and defend our rights and freedoms from the MAGA right.
- 12 representatives are under the age of 35 — an important step in having younger voices heard.
- 16 new veterans will be joining the 84 incumbent members with military experience — the largest such caucus in eight years.
- Latino representation in the Senate will hit a record high due in part to the election of trailblazers like Ruben Gallego in Arizona.
- Matt Gaetz (yes that guy) will NOT be returning to the House after resigning his seat to unsuccessfully serve as Donald Trump’s Attorney General.
While some of these victories may seem small, small victories can lead to larger ones down the road. And while we’re disappointed with the way the 2024 election turned out, we’re taking stock of our wins — no matter how big or small — and looking forward to the future.
And before you know it, John — the 2026 midterm elections will be upon us. That will be our best chance to stop the MAGA agenda in its tracks. But we'll need to start that work now if we're going to break the GOP trifecta.
Can you chip in a split $5 contribution right now to help us lay the foundation for retaking Congress and thwarting the GOP's agenda?
Your contribution will be split between the following organizations: VoteVets PAC, Run For Something PAC, Leaders We Deserve, and Voto Latino.
