📱 First, a U.S. district court largely denied Big Tech’s attempt to block California’s new law to protect our children’s mental health and well-being on social media.
The landmark Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act, which Rob sponsored, officially went into effect on Wednesday. It prevents social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter from using addictive algorithmic feeds, notifications, and other addictive design features to trick and hook children and teens to spend hours and hours on their platforms.
🏥 Then, the Attorney General announced a $10 million settlement against the owners of R&B Medical Group, Universal Diagnostic Laboratories, and Southern California Medical Center for submitting false claims to Medi-Cal and Medicare.
Medi-Cal is meant to help the state’s most vulnerable communities, so when healthcare professionals exploit Medi-Cal for their own personal gain, they undermine a program designed to support the elderly, the ill, and those in need. Under Rob’s watch, the DOJ is combatting this fraud and ensuring integrity and compassionate care through Medi-Cal.
