Families are going to be asked to make yet another impossible sacrifice.

Friends,

We need Housing Justice, and we need it now!

As the end of the month approaches, once again, working

families are going to be asked to make yet another impossible

sacrifice.

We are on the verge of another economic catastrophe. Nearly 40

million people are now out of work. Without steady income, and

with a lack of real long term governmental support, people

are being forced to choose between rent and food for their

families.

That is a choice no one should ever have to make.

100 million Americans live in rentals. In April, only 2.3 million

people did not pay rent. So, despite almost 35% unemployment

and little to no help from the government, 97 million Americans

were forced to choose paying their rent over feeding their

families. The painful truth is, that in many cases, the decision

between rent and other vital supplies is actually a decision to

keep a roof over your head.

That is unacceptable.

At the current moment, local and nationwide eviction freezes are

stopping millions of landlords from throwing people out of their

homes. However, as the country begins to slowly reopen, those

restrictions will be lifted and so many working class families will

face a devastating reality: eviction.

Below are a couple of resources that can help protect

you from eviction.

Millions of families could face eviction due to forces entirely out

of their control. Now, more than ever, we need housing justice.

We need a Federal Homes Guarantee that creates 12 million

permanent homes for communities most impacted by this

economic crisis.

Although a Federal Homes Guarantee is a great start, it is not

enough. So long as massive investment firms, like Blackstone,

are allowed to evict one third of all tenants each year in

order to maximize profit, and tenant blacklists are circulated to

prevent people in need from accessing homes, we can have no

justice.

We need large scale housing reforms such as:

1. National rent controls

2. Legislation that prohibits corporations from renting

    access to our own communities

3. Making tenant blacklists illegal and levying massive fines

    to landlords that use them

4. A Federal Homes Guarantee

5. 100% tenant oversight of public housing budgets

6. Repeal the faircloth amendment and pass the Homes for

    All act

When I get elected to Congress on June 23rd, 2020, we will

make sure each and every American has housing justice.

Housing is a fundamental human right and it's about time

our representatives started acting like it.

rights by contributing today!

There is no place in our politics for corporations like Blackstone.

We are powered by tenants, not landlords.
