Dear Neighbor,
Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025, I’m reflecting on all we accomplished in 2024. My office secured over $208 million in federal funding for New Jersey’s 6th District and helped return over $11 million directly to constituents. We also resolved over 2,000 cases, hosted 74 live events, and kept you informed through 51 e-newsletters.
Today, the 119th Congress will be sworn in, and I’m excited to continue fighting for you in the year ahead. Whether it’s delivering more federal dollars or tackling new challenges, my focus remains on making life better at home. Thank you for trusting me to be your voice in Washington!
Big News for Seniors on Medicare
Starting this week, seniors will see historic relief on their prescription drug costs. Thanks to the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act, out-of-pocket costs for medications will be capped at $2,000 annually beginning in 2025. For the first time ever, seniors with high medication expenses won’t face unlimited costs—saving thousands of dollars every year.
This is a game-changer for those who rely on multiple prescriptions or have faced impossible choices between paying for medicine or other essentials. Democrats fought to make this cap a reality and put seniors first. Learn more about these savings here.
Swearing In Local Leaders Across the District
This week, I hit the road around the district to take part in some key events marking the start of the new year. In Neptune Township, I attended the reorganization meeting with Mayor Rob Lane and Committee members Derel Stroud, Kevin McMillan, Jason Jones, and Tassie York — leaders who are ready to get to work on the big issues facing their community. Over in Atlantic Highlands, I swore in Councilmembers Jose Pujols and Brian Dougherty, who will continues to focus on keeping the town a great place to live. In Piscataway, I spoke at the reorganization meeting about the significant progress made by Mayor Brian Wahler and the Council with a focus on smart development and public safety. I wrapped up the day in Metuchen, where I swore in Councilmembers Jason Delia and Joel Branch and heard from Mayor Jonathan Busch about Metuchen’s 2024 accomplishments. It’s always rewarding to see how local leaders step up to tackle the issues we care about—together, we’ll make sure our district keeps moving forward.
National Day of Mourning January 9 for President Carter
I was saddened to hear of President Jimmy Carter’s passing this week. He lived 100 remarkable years, dedicating his life to service, compassion, and helping those in need. President Carter’s passing marks the loss of a leader whose legacy extended far beyond the political sphere. Carter’s commitment to global public health spanned decades, addressing diseases that disproportionately affected the world’s most vulnerable populations. Through the Carter Center, which he founded in 1982, Carter spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives, including the near-eradication of Guinea worm disease—a feat achieved without vaccines or drugs, relying instead on community-led efforts and perseverance. His vision brought hope to millions by tackling neglected tropical diseases such as river blindness and lymphatic filariasis. Carter’s efforts in mental health were equally transformative, both during and after his presidency, as he championed the reduction of stigma and the expansion of access to care. His unwavering belief in the dignity of all people and the power of grassroots action leaves an indelible mark on global health and humanity.
As we honor his life and legacy, President Biden has declared Thursday, January 9 a National Day of Mourning. Federal offices will be closed that day as we pay our respects.
