It's official, friend: I have just been sworn in to begin my second term representing Illinois 17th District in Congress.
I have never lost sight that being in Congress isn’t about politics – it is about helping out my neighbors every day. And that’s just fine with me, because I'm not a politician – I'm a meteorologist who spent two decades serving my Northwest and Central Illinois communities.
In my first term in office, even amidst far-right dysfunction and obstruction, I delivered on my pledge to bridge the political divide and work with anyone to deliver common-sense solutions to improve lives.
I’m excited to start another term with those same ideals, and I’m ready to go to bat for working families on issues like health care access, economic justice, protecting our environment, and so much more.
As we kick off these next two years in Congress, you have my commitment to continue engaging with each of you directly. My office is yours, because we are here to serve you, and your input is critical to improving our lives.
