The Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications to fill a vacant seat for District 1 until a special election can be held.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and a qualified and registered elector of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners District 1. Applications can be found on the BOC website and are to be received by 5 p.m. on January 9th.

Student Government Day January 23, 2025
The 3rd Annual Student Government Day will be held on January 23, 2025. The Commissioners provide this opportunity to our community’s youth so that they may learn the purpose and mechanics of county-level government and be able to participate in a way to further their understanding of how local government works. The day will include an office tour, presentations and discussions with Commissioners, the opportunity to draft a mock proclamation and a mock meeting with Commissioners in the boardroom. A $1,000 scholarship, sponsored by Advancing Macomb, will be awarded to the top essay submitted.
To participate, essays were required to be submitted by December 20th. Students will receive an email invitation for the program. Learn more at bocmacomb.org/events/student-government-day.
