It’s only the first week of January, John, and we already have a critical special election on our hands.

Virginia’s 32nd State Senate District is where it all begins. This must-win race on Tuesday will decide whether Democrats can hold the line against Republican attacks on climate action and critical rights. Here are three reasons why this election, and your support, couldn’t be more important:

1️⃣ This is our first chance to push back against Trump’s dangerous agenda. With Donald Trump back in the White House in a few weeks, Republicans are wasting no time targeting climate action and critical rights like reproductive freedom. Kannan’s record of advancing clean energy policies, promoting environmental accountability, and prioritizing public health in the state legislature makes him the bold leader we need in the Virginia Senate to build a firewall of policies that protect progress and counter Trump’s harmful agenda.

2️⃣ Democrats hold a razor-thin, one-seat majority in Virginia’s Senate. This race is a must-win.
