House Elects Speaker Johnson on First Ballot
Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman issued the following statement after Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) was elected to the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives on the first ballot.

“We are pleased that the Republican House has unified to re-elected Speaker Johnson. It is imperative that the work of the 119th Congress begin immediately so that the November 2024 election results can be certified on Monday and the new Congress can start repairing the damage from the Biden-Harris Administration.

For the last four years, the American family has been undermined by the Biden-Harris Administration and its allies in Congress. Today marks a new beginning as the 119th Congress is sworn in with Republican majorities in both the House and Senate. Together with the incoming Trump Administration, we will be working to ensure the federal government respects parental rights, protects women and girls in their private spaces and sports, defends the Constitutional rights of all Americans, and requires fiscal accountability from the government.

We acknowledge an incredibly thin majority in the House and know that we, as grassroots Americans, must make our voices heard by all elected officials. Eagle Forum will continue our work advocating for pro-family policies at all levels of government. From protecting the Right to Life, lowering taxes, and securing our borders to ensuring property rights and consumer choice, Eagle Forum knows that all issues impact the family.

We are grateful for the members of the House Freedom Caucus who serve a vital role of conservative conscience in the Republican Caucus. We are grateful that almost all Republicans came together to support Speaker Johnson, who has a strong conservative voting record including a 100% pro-life record. He is a committed man of faith with a history of advocacy for pro-family causes. Not only is he the right man for the job, but the continuity of leadership ensures a seamless transition in the crucial months ahead. We look forward to working with the 119th Congress and the Trump Administration to protect faith, family, and freedom.
