New year, new minimum-wage rates
Minnesota's minimum-wage rates were adjusted for inflation Jan. 1, 2025, to $11.13 an hour for all employers, including large employers, small employers, youth and J-1 visa wages for hotels, motels and lodging establishments. The law still allows for a 90-day training wage for workers under age 20. The current hourly training wage, $8.85, will increase to $9.08.
As of Jan. 1, 2025:
* All employers must pay at least $11.13 an hour.
* The training wage rate, $9.08 an hour, may be paid to employees younger than 20 years of age for the first 90 consecutive days of employment.

MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online
Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.
For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2024, MNOSHA has investigated six fatalities through Dec. 30.
The information provided about each investigation is: the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
