Today, I was officially sworn in to represent Delaware in the United States House of Representatives.
As I took my oath of office, I was overwhelmed with gratitude — for you and for our state of neighbors. Together, we broke barriers and demonstrated that nothing is truly impossible when we dream of it and fight for it.
Delaware is my home, and every step of this incredible journey has been guided by the people and values that make it so special. From Claymont to Lewes, Dover to Seaford, the stories, challenges, and dreams I heard on the campaign trail are what I carried with me today — and it’s what I’ll carry with me into the halls of Congress every day.
Nearly 250 years ago, Delaware became the first state to sign on to the journey that is America, and I’m ready to ensure that the First State continues to lead the way. Whether it’s advocating for affordable healthcare and housing or defending our rights and freedoms, I will fight every day to deliver for you and Delawareans up and down the state.
But none of this would have been possible without you. Whether you pitched in your time and treasure or simply read our emails and followed us on social media to keep up with our campaign, your belief that our democracy is big enough for all of us brought us to this moment. I’m endlessly grateful.
Now it’s time to get to work, and I’m ready to roll up my sleeves. Because the truth is, we’ll be facing uphill battles with a Republican-controlled Congress and a second Donald Trump presidency. But I remain committed to taking on the important fights and collaborating across differences to find solutions to the challenges facing all of us.
Thank you again for putting your trust in me. Let’s keep dreaming big for our small state.
