Today, I stood in the U.S. Capitol and took the oath of office to represent California’s 14th District in the 119th Congress.

Humbled. Grateful. Fired up.

That’s how I felt standing alongside my colleagues, promising to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. But let’s not sugarcoat it — our country is in a fight. From the ongoing climate crisis and the urgent need for economic reform to attacks on reproductive freedom, racial justice, and our democracy itself, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

And just when you think Trump and his MAGA allies can’t sink any lower, they find new depths. With their Project 2025 ready to go, they’re more dangerous, organized, and emboldened than ever. That’s the fight I’ve been sworn into today: to ensure they fail in dragging us back.

We need bold, progressive leadership at this moment — not political stunts or leaders who are more interested in pleasing Trump than serving Americans. I promise to keep being that leader for California’s 14th and for all of you across the country who refuse to let MAGA extremists win.

But I can't do it alone.

We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I know we can get it done with you by my side. Let’s make this Congress one to remember — for all the right reasons.
