Can you join with members of NVBA’s Advocacy Committee to advocate for legislation that will help protect our environment?
The Virginia General Assembly will convene on January 8 for a six-week session. We expect that a significant number of environmentally-related bills will be considered. We will alert you when bills are being considered by legislative committees and when they are scheduled for a vote by the House or Senate. You can help by calling or writing a letter or email to the committee, your delegate or your senator urging passage (or not) of a particular bill. We will give you information that you can use in your communications. You would be working with more experienced advocates, so lack of experience is not disqualifying.
If you are interested in helping, please send an email to Tom Blackburn, NVBA’s Advocacy Committee Chair, at [email protected]. Please include your name, physical address (so we can identify which legislators represent you), any particular area of interest (trees, invasive plants, wetlands, etc.) and the names of the delegate and senator representing you, if you who they are.
