Happy New Year from the whole team at the NDRC!

2025 is going to be a big year in the long arc of our nation’s history.

This is not an “off year,” and we don’t have a minute to waste. There’s a lot of important work ahead — and we’re already off to the races.

In just four days, Virginians head to the polls in legislative special elections. These races will decide the legislative majority in both chambers. We’ve endorsed three Democracy Defenders: Jack Trammell and Kannan Srinivasan for the Virginia Senate and JJ Singh for the Virginia House of Delegates.

That’s not all: Later this year, voters will be choosing a state supreme justice in Wisconsin and three state supreme court justices in Pennsylvania.

And of course, we need to be ready for the attacks on democracy from the Trump administration and his allies around the country.

We already know they want to continue to blatantly gerrymander maps, make it harder for people to vote, and stack state supreme courts with extremist judges who rubberstamp manipulated maps.
