Friend, we are just hours into the 119th Congress, and Republicans are wasting no time pushing Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda.

They're threatening to start with billions of dollars in a spending bill to fund mass deportations, immigration detention, and border wall construction. They plan to use budget reconciliation, which bypasses the usual 60-vote threshold in the Senate, requiring only a simple majority for these harmful measures to pass.

These attacks are starting in the reconciliation process but will not stop there. Mass deportations, worksite raids, and family detention threaten to tear apart our communities and devastate our shared economy. With the same amount of money, we could build millions of new homes, fund public schools, or make any number of investments that will actually improve people’s lives.  

At NILC, we’re prepared to fight back, but we need you with us, friend. Keep an eye on your inbox in the coming months for opportunities to get involved when your voice is needed most. Whether it's contacting your representatives, spreading awareness, or supporting our advocacy efforts, your actions will make a real difference.
