The Unz Review Digest - May 22, 2020

Ranking first this last week among our articles was a long piece by Laurent Guyenot on religious matters, making the argument that Yahweh, the God of the Old Testament, should best be understood as being the Devil, the central force of evil in the world.  As might be expected, this highly controversial analysis attracted more than 400 contentious comments, totaling over 65,000 words.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic was the subject of many of our other top featured articles, with the second and third place pieces both by Mike Whitney and focused on lockdown issues.  Ranking second was another column touting the strong apparent success of Sweden in controlling the disease without the need for a harsh governmental lockdown, while his other piece argued that America’s sweeping lockdown and the resulting collapse of our economy was probably the greatest policy disaster in our entire national history.

My own fifth-ranking column described the very strange explanation provided by Facebook for the sudden banning of all our content, in which they casually described us as “similar” to the anti-immigration website VDare, despite the fact that only about 0.2% of our articles so far this year have been republished from VDare and virtually none of our featured articles in recent months have dealt with immigration.  I argued that the much more likely explanation was the tremendous popularity of my recent article pointing to the very strong evidence that the Covid-19 outbreak was due to an American biowarfare attack against China (and Iran).

Rounding out our most popular featured articles was Michelle Malkin’s piece from two weeks ago regarding the under-reported facts of the recent racially-charged killing in Georgia and Philip Giraldi’s discussion of the extreme reluctance of the American media to report touchy matters connected with Israel or the Israel lobby.

“The finest trick of the devil is to persuade you that he does not exist,” wrote Charles Baudelaire (Paris Spleen). He was wrong: the devil’s finest trick is to persuade you that he is God. Do I believe in the existence of the devil? It depends on the definition. I believe that humans are under... Read More
In a pandemic, there is no substitute for immunity, because immunity provides the best protection against reinfection. That's why Sweden set its sights on immunity from the very beginning. They crafted a policy that was designed to protect the old and vulnerable, prevent the public health system from being overwhelmed, and, most important, allow younger,... Read More
Donald Trump calls the media "the enemy of the people", but it's much worse than that. The media is a national security threat. Just look at the way they've handled the coronavirus. The hysterical 24-7 coverage has people so terrified they've locked themselves in their homes inflicting catastrophic damage on the economy. That disaster never... Read More
Do you know who these two race-hustlers are? If you pay attention, you know that Black Lives Matter co-founder Shaun King (a.k.a. Talcum X, Martin Luther Cream, or W.E.B. De Fraud) and lawyer Lee Merritt are Morehouse College buddies who have been partners in anti-white, anti-cop agitation for upwards of two decades. On Tuesday, King... Read More
Just over a month ago I was riding high and celebrating the steady upward progress of our alternative media webzine. I proudly noted that our traffic had now far surpassed that of the venerable New Republic, a century old publication that had spent decades as America's most influential opinion magazine. But pride goeth before the... Read More
There are two stories that seem to have been under-reported in the past couple of weeks. The first involves Michael Flynn’s dealings with the Russian United Nations Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. And the second describes yet another bit of espionage conducted by a foreign country directed against the United States. Both stories involve the State of... Read More
Amidst the worldwide pandemic induced scare most of us have probably lost track of all the other potential dangers which still threaten international peace and stability. Allow me to list just a few headlines which, I strongly believe, deserve much more attention than what they got so far. Here we go: Military Times: "5 Iran... Read More
Back in 2012, the Trayvon Martin case was my first awakening as a budding young leftist to not only how wrong, but how blindly and aggressively wrong the left could be in its crusades. I remember studying the details of that case before it ever became national news. By collecting a series of locations on... Read More
A POWERFUL NETWORK OF POLITICAL OPERATIVES, A GLOBAL VACCINE MAFIA AND THEIR MAN IN WASHINGTON. Last Friday, a group of Democratic Senators “demanded” that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Robert Kadlec, “accurately disclose all his personal, financial and political ties in light of new reporting... Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, the US Congress rammed through the CARES Act — which economist Michael Hudson explains is not a “bailout” but a massive, $6 trillion giveaway to Wall Street, banks, large corporations, and stockholders. Max Blumenthal and Ben Norton discuss the enormous financial scam with Hudson, who reveals how the economy actually works,... Read More
In 1999, Qiao Liang, then a senior air force colonel in the People’s Liberation Army, and Wang Xiangsui, another senior colonel, caused a tremendous uproar with the publication of Unrestricted Warfare: China’s Master Plan to Destroy America. Unrestricted Warfare was essentially the PLA’s manual for asymmetric warfare: an updating of Sun Tzu’s Art of War.... Read More
My columns haven’t been very funny recently. This one isn’t going to be any funnier. Sorry. Fascism makes me cranky. I don’t mean the kind of fascism the corporate media and the fake Resistance have been desperately hyping for the last four years. God help me, but I’m not terribly worried about a few hundred... I recently had the pleasure of participating in a podcast with Fróði Midjord discussing the classic 1966 film by Italian director Gillo Pentecorvo, The Battle of Algiers. This was part of Guide to Kulchur’s excellent “Decameron Film Festival,” which is taking advantage of confinement to interview a range of prestigious speakers, from Jared Taylor to... Read More
No human feeling has been more maligned, slandered, abused, and misappropriated in contemporary culture than the humble and dignified hatred. Wars have been declared against it. Legislation seeks everywhere to strangle it. It has been presented as the source of all evils, and as the great enemy of our time. This primordial emotion is the... Read More

Leave it to the Mossad and Shin Bet to profit militarily and financially from virus.

Israel’s external spy organization Mossad and its internal espionage equivalent Shin Bet have reputations that are much larger than their actual successes, but the one area where they have excelled is electronic intelligence gathering. Recent electronic spying around the White House and other federal buildings in Washington carried out by the Israeli Embassy demonstrates that... Read More
The genius of America’s totalitarian system of government is that it is not totally total, and sometimes not very totalitarian at all. It is just total enough. Truly total government--"Your papers, citizen," stop-and-frisk, permission needed to travel from city to city--might spark revolt. By contrast, a sufficiency of totalitarianism, but not an excess, keeps the... Read More

Uruguay is a small country on the eastern coast of South America between Argentina and Brazil. Mostly European in demographics, it was long considered the Switzerland of South America because, fearful of the usual local tendency towards dictatorship, it shared power in a plural executive, was early in separating Church and State, in giving votes...
