We'll talk about the nuts & bolts of starting a chapter, and hear examples of what some of our Chapter Coordinators are working on around the world. Everyone is welcome to attend!
As a WBW Organizing Intern, I feel honored to co-host this webinar with WBW’s Organizing Director Greta Zarro, who will moderate a brief Q&A following the speakers’ presentations.
Our Featured Speakers will be:
Helen Peacock (WBW South Georgian Bay Chapter): She is the founder of Pivot2Peace, a local peace group in Ontario, Canada, which is part of the Canada-wide Peace and Justice Network. She is a Canadian peace advocate, and speaker who has presented on the topic of World Peace to groups around the world including Russia, China, India, Australia, Europe, and North America.
Fatoumata Sossia Djire (WBW Mali Chapter): She became dedicated to peace when she witnessed the authorities during the 2012-armed conflict in Mali. After hearing stories of those affected by the conflict, including those who were killed, displaced, or injured, she reevaluated her role and commitment to peace in her country.
Barry Sweeney (WBW Ireland Chapter): He is a Chapter Coordinator for the World BEYOND War Ireland and Italy chapters. In 2019, he organized World BEYOND War's annual #NoWar2019 Conference in Ireland. Barry has been a facilitator for World BEYOND War’s online courses "War Abolition 101" and “Leaving World War II Behind.”
Join us on January 18 to hear from these Chapter Coordinators about the work they do and how you can organize locally in your community.
