Dear Free Software Supporter,
You've been incredible! Thanks to free software supporters like
yourself, we collected more than $323,000 USD since the beginning of
our [year-end drive][1] on November 12. This means that not much is
missing before we reach our goal of $400,000 USD. Can you give the FSF
a final push by helping us collect the final $77,000 USD by January 17?

We know not everyone is in a position to, but if you can, **can you
support our efforts by making a [donation][2], maybe matching the
average contribution of $46.22 USD?** Or, an associate membership is a
great show of support we can rely on, and an [annual FSF associate
membership][3] translates to a mere $2.69 USD per week, or $0.38 USD
per day! Will you help us reach our [goal][1] of $400,000 USD before
January 17? Your contribution today doesn’t just fund programs — it
fuels a movement. It ensures we can respond now that technological
freedom is more important than ever. If you join as an annual
associate member this period, we'll send you a set of five unique
postcards to help you promote computer user freedom. Associate members
will also be able to enjoy all the [associate member benefits][4].

Did you know that the FSF is almost exclusively powered by individuals
like you supporting us through member dues and donations? Here's what
we've done with support from the free software community in the past
month alone:
* For the eighteenth [International Day Against Digital Restrictions
Management][6], we organized worldwide protests against Microsoft
forcing people to *downgrade* to Windows 11;
[6]: [link removed]
* After we heard that some of you were already eagerly awaiting it, we
published the [*Free Software Bulletin*][7] with exciting stories
about the [topographic history of the FSF][8] and how the FSF SysOps
team is [fighting DDoS attacks][9];

[8]: [link removed]
[9]: [link removed]
* For fans of New Year's resolutions, we published a list of
suggestions you can follow to [resolve to have a freer 2025][10];
[10]: [link removed]
* In the latest article from the campaigns team, we explained why
[free software is vital for governments of a free society][11];
[11]: [link removed]
* As every year, we published an [Ethical Tech Giving Guide][12] to
help you choose gifts for your friends and family that respect the
recipient's freedom;
[12]: [link removed]
* The [licensing team reported][13] on how the Licensing and
Compliance Lab has been serving the free software community over the
last six months;
[13]: [link removed]
* In the midst of DDoS attacks, the tech team sent a summary of the
[FSF SysOps Team's work][14] including a detailed account of the
migration of our telephone system from a physical machine to a
virtual machine;
[14]: [link removed]
* With the help of wonderful volunteers, we've been busy fulfilling
your [GNU Press shop orders][15]; and
[15]: [link removed]
* We've been continuously discussing the latest developments in free
software and [machine learning][16].

It goes without saying that this is all happening on top of the core
work that the FSF does to support the free software community, such
as: sponsoring the [GNU System][17] and Savannah, an important source
code repository and resource for free software development; fiscally
sponsoring other important free software development with the FSF's
[Working Together for Free Software Fund][18]; maintaining and
defending the [Free Software Definition][19]; educating about [free
software licensing][20]; and providing free software development
support including email, shell access, and mailing lists.

Technological freedom is more important than ever! We’re standing at
the brink of even more profound change, and we need the support of the
free software community to continue pushing forward.
Thank you for being the heartbeat of our mission! Together, we can do
so much more.
With gratitude,
Miriam Bastian
Program Manager
