We all have a part to play in protecting public health and slowing the spread of COVID-19. First and foremost, stay home whenever possible.

I wanted to reach out with an update on our city's fight against COVID-19. You can find more about these programs at Phoenix.gov/resources.

We understand that many are struggling and are eager to get back to work. The city of Phoenix has created a hotline for small businesses and has already spoken with and assisted 6,000 businesses. While we have more work to do, Phoenix has allocated $15 million in support of our small business community.

Phoenix is halting all financial-related evictions for city-owned housing and has invested in keeping our homeless communities safe amid coronavirus concerns.

Phoenix City Council allocated more than $20 million in rental and utility assistance to help those Phoenicians impacted by the economic turndown.

Phoenix approved $2.6 million to support our arts community. The arts and culture sector of our economy normally generates hundreds of millions in economic activity and has been greatly impacted.

The Phoenix City Council allocated $5 million in federal relief for food aid to those in need and $3.3 million in federal relief funding to extend WiFi access to ensure resources are available for those working or learning from home.

We have more work to do, and I am committed to working every day on behalf of all Phoenicians to keep our community safe and healthy.

We are in this together,

-- Mayor Kate Gallego
