John, one of the
key aspects that sets Leaders We Deserve apart is that we're playing the
long game. I've said this over and over because it's super important:
Democrats need to build our bench with young progressive leaders TODAY so
they can lead our country tomorrow. A young candidate we’re electing to a
state legislature right now could very well be the future President of the
United States.
[ [link removed] ]We elected six young leaders to state legislatures and Congress last
year — and,
John we're just getting
started. Pitch in $5 and help keep up the fight.
In college, I studied the way conservative political movements built their
power over the past 30 years, winning control of state legislatures and
appointing a ton of far-right judges to advance their agenda. It didn’t
happen out of nowhere – conservatives and Republicans worked tirelessly to
get to where they are now.
It was a major wake-up call for me – and one of the reasons I helped start
Leaders We Deserve. We have a generation of young people who are ready to
step up and lead. These are the progressive leaders who will write the
future of this country, who will fight for our values and create the
progress that we need to see. But they need our support today to win their
elections and start building those movements.
I know the results of the presidential election were extremely
disappointing. Like you, I’m worried about what the future holds under a
second Trump administration.
But the work we’re doing at Leaders We Deserve was always much bigger than
the presidential election. I take comfort in the fact that we elected six
new young people across the country – and that we’ll continue to grow that
number year after year, cycle after cycle. We are building a solid
foundation for a progressive future.
