John --
Buenas tardes. I’m Mario Arias, and I currently serve as the Allies Manager at the Forward Party. Two years ago, my journey began as a state lead for Nevada, where I had the opportunity to work closely with volunteers and the community, which helped me truly understand the importance of building committees within the Forward Party. Seeing the growth of our movement firsthand, I realized how crucial committees are for empowering people, fostering leadership, and keeping our party connected to communities across the country. As we continue to grow, these committees will be crucial in strengthening our ties to communities and driving our mission forward.
What Went Well
In 2024, we laid the foundation for our movement by launching four committees: the Veterans & Veteran Families Committee, the Women’s Committee, the Black Voters Committee, and the Young Forwardists. These committees are driving progress by creating opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and leadership in communities across the country.
Committees play a critical role in ensuring that our party remains inclusive, dynamic, and connected to diverse communities. They provide a path for volunteers and supporters to come together, share ideas, and take action. By focusing on communities that have often been underrepresented, these committees ensure that every voice is heard and that our work reflects the diverse values and experiences of our nation.
Each committee has already demonstrated its impact by supporting 15 Forward-endorsed candidates, providing the resources and platforms these leaders need to share their vision. Together, our committees successfully hosted text-banking events that reached over 55,000 voters, ensuring direct engagement with communities. Additionally, they organized candidate forums featuring 15 dynamic leaders, giving voters an opportunity to connect with the people who aim to represent them.
The importance of these committees is also reflected in their growth. We’ve seen 380 new committee members eager to contribute their energy and ideas. On social media, committees like the Young Forwardists, Women’s Committee, and Black Voters Committee have amplified their message, reaching a combined 550 followers. This growth demonstrates how these groups inspire action, foster leadership, and build connections that strengthen our movement.
These are our thoughts from 2024, but we want to hear from you! Please head to this link and fill out your thoughts on lessons learned, the direction the party should head in, and projects we should tackle! We will read them all, and we will highlight our top 10, along with the people who submitted them, in early January as our New Years Resolutions. <[link removed]>
2025 Projects
Looking ahead, we’re expanding our efforts with new committees, including LGBTQ+, AAPI, Hispanic & Latino, Indigenous, and Disability Committees. These additions will ensure broader representation as we continue building a more inclusive and engaged democracy.
Our committees are the heart of this movement, and their work is just getting started. Together, we’re building the Forward Party into a force for change.
Thank you for being part of this journey — let’s keep moving forward!
If you're still feeling the season of giving, consider donating to Forward this season!
