As we welcome the new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on a victory for working people in New York City – the minimum wage is going up!
It’s a step in the right direction, but let’s be clear: it’s not enough.
This year, the minimum wage in NYC will hit $16.50 an hour. But if I had my way, workers would be making $18.50 an hour right now – with a path to $21 by 2026.
We fought hard, and we made progress. Raising wages wasn’t easy, but we got it done because I refused to back down from this fight. And I won’t stop until every worker in our city is paid fairly and treated with dignity.
Working families can’t afford to wait for incremental change – not when the cost of rent, groceries, and everyday essentials continues climbing. That’s why I’m running for Mayor. I know we can do better, and I know what it takes to make that happen.
If you believe in a city that works for working people, I hope you’ll stand with me.
Raising the minimum wage is just the beginning. In 2025, we’ll keep pushing – for housing justice, for safer streets, and for a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Let’s keep building. Together, we can build the future New Yorkers deserve.
Here’s to a new year!
