Last Chance for Animals (LCA) is celebrating the three year anniversary of the closing of Ringling Bros. Circus!
On May 21, 2017, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performed its last show in New York and permanently shut its doors on the saddest show on earth for wild animals. After more than 100 years of animal abuse in the name of entertainment, Ringling's lions, tigers, camels and other captive animals would no longer enter the ring and be forced to perform demeaning and unnatural tricks. Life for these animals was one of isolation, torture, and trauma.
This victory was a momentous occasion for the animals which had taken the animal rights movement more than three decades to achieve. LCA was at the forefront working to expose Ringling Bros. by protesting, conducting undercover investigations, advocating for legislation, and performing public outreach.
While the end of Ringling Bros. Circus is a victory for every activist who participated, the fight to free animals from cruelty is not over. Animals continue to be exploited in aquariums, rodeos, zoos and other circuses. LCA will keep up the fight until animals do not suffer in the name of entertainment!
