If Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is confirmed as Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, it would mean devastating consequences for American public health. Kennedy, a known vaccine skeptic, has constantly spouted dangerous lies and disregarded scientific evidence.
As HHS Secretary, he’d oversee agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — organizations that have long played critical roles in safeguarding American public health. He could cut lifesaving programs, like “Vaccines for Children,” which has immunized millions against diseases such as polio and measles, simply because they don’t align with his personal beliefs.
Just one egregious example of Kennedy’s disregard for science is his opposition to COVID-19 vaccines, which prevented over 3.2 million deaths in the U.S. He could worsen existing vaccine skepticism, increase the spread of preventable illnesses, and endanger lives. Leading doctors have already warned dangerous outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases like measles and mumps.
We cannot afford to let this happen. We need to act now, before it’s too late.
