When it comes to the fight over climate change, the next generation of activists are leading the charge and showing the adults in the room how it’s done. After the hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding we have faced in the last few years, it’s become clear that an incrementalist approach simply isn’t working. Young people are demanding change because they’re the ones who are going to have to live with the worst effects if we don’t act fast. It’s time to fight for our future, and there’s no time to waste.

Our youth are leading this movement to not only reform our policies, but also reform the political system that allowed things to get this bad in the first place. As we saw in Puerto Rico, real change happens when people make their voices heard. Our students are standing on the steps of the Capitol, visiting Congressional offices, and holding protests with the goal of passing a Green New Deal. It’s time we joined them!
