You might have missed this, but just before the holidays, the Biden Administration released new research that shows that approving new permits for liquified methane gas (LNG) will drive up energy bills and worsen the climate crisis. 

Unchecked, unlimited LNG exports means more dangerous fracking - fracking that we know will continue to contaminate our air and groundwater in Pennsylvania, which can cause health problems, like cancer and birth defects.  

Time is running out to call on the Biden Administration to flat out reject all pending LNG permits. We still need you to weigh in -- please send a message today.

Huge news! The Biden Administration just released a groundbreaking report exposing the risks posed by liquified methane gas (LNG) exports.

The report’s findings are crystal clear:

• Triple cost threat: Unfettered exports of LNG would increase domestic natural gas prices by over 30%, increase manufacturing costs, and increase electricity prices. American households should expect to pay an additional $100 a year.
• Deadly: Pollutants such as methane, volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and others lead to higher mortality rates in communities where oil and gas are extracted and processed. If volumes of LNG continue to increase, this will get worse.
• Climate destruction: LNG exports will increase greenhouse gas emissions and displace renewable energy such as wind and solar.

Now, we have 4 weeks to push the Biden Administration to reject pending LNG permits.

Dirty energy is a massive climate threat, and LNG is no different. One LNG project in Louisiana could emit pollution equivalent to 51 coal plants each year! These “carbon bombs” jeopardize global efforts to combat climate change and put future generations at risk. 

Stopping more LNG facilities is a matter of justice. These facilities are put in areas already exposed to higher levels of pollution and climate change. This results in higher rates of asthma, cancer, and heart disease for people living near these facilities. 

Bottom line: exporting LNG generates dangerous pollution, threatens our children’s future, and raises energy prices for Americans – all while enriching oil and gas executives. 

Earlier this year, the Biden Administration paused approvals of new LNG exports to reassess outdated data and analysis. With Trump coming into office soon, President Biden will face massive pressure to do nothing. We need to show him that the American people are united against dirty energy expansion before we run out of time. 

Tell President Biden to stand up to Big Oil and Gas and reject new LNG export projects immediately. 

Together, we can hold the Administration accountable and secure a safer, healthier future for all.
