As I counted down the final days of 2024 with family and friends, I couldn’t help but reflect on the big numbers we saw over the past twelve months.
In 2024, Wild Salmon Center and our partners protected 28 million acres of public land from extractive development in Alaska. We saw better forest protections roll out across 10 million acres of private land in Oregon. And from the Skeena River to the North Umpqua, we were heartened as salmonid numbers ticked up in many of the strongholds where we work—good news that NOAA credits in part to our restoration work.
Many of you responded with a wave of year-end donations to keep our momentum going. Thank you!
In 2025, your support will take us even further. You’ll help us break ground on restoration projects across the Pacific Northwest and bring our groundbreaking Salmon Vision technology to more First Nations and fisheries managers. You’ll advance our science team’s work on the first range-wide DNA map for Pacific Chinook and steelhead. And you’ll support the advancement of a permanent protection plan for Bristol Bay: the world’s greatest sockeye salmon nursery.
You’ll hear more about these campaigns in the coming months. For now, we're glad you're right there beside us, celebrating the wins—and gearing up for what lies ahead.
