Eid Mubarak

A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

As Nottingham’s Muslim community reaches the end of Ramadan, it is usually a time where many would gather as families and communities. Eid will be different this year but it will be no less special. I understand how much followers of this faith will miss being together to pray and celebrate today and over the weekend.

Many people have shared that their experience of Ramadan this year has been even more profound and meaningful.

I would like to thank members of Muslim communities in Nottingham who, like the vast majority of local people, have been so attentive to the Government guidance on staying home and staying safe. On behalf of everyone at Nottingham City Council, I would like to wish you and your loved ones a peaceful Eid filled with joy and happiness. Eid Mubarak!

Another lockdown bank holiday – Stay Home Stay Safe

Family at home

With the changes to lockdown restrictions - longer travelling distances and unlimited time spent outdoors now permitted - many popular locations are reporting a big increase in visitors. The message this bank holiday weekend is still stay home if you can; to protect your loved ones and the NHS.

It is really important that we all still play our part in stopping the spread of the virus and protecting the NHS. This is best done by staying home as much as we can, if you're going out to exercise make sure to stay two metres away from others not in your household and regularly washing your hands.

Keep you and your family safe by the following the latest Government guidelines - Coronavirus outbreak FAQs: what you can and can't do

A particular highlight for me will be the Nottingham Music Hub which will showcase performances featuring the children and staff of Nottingham City schools!
