** United Nations Youth Delegate Programme

We are now accepting applications for the United Nations Youth Delegate Programme. Run by NYCI together with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this programme is a truly amazing opportunity that will see two young people aged 18-25 join Ireland’s delegation to the United Nations, and give voice to issues concerning young people in Ireland and around the globe. ** "Change the World" Podcast

We've teamed up with NYCI member SpunOut.ie to support young people to share their thoughts and amplify their voices on the Sustainable Development Goals and how they impact young people in Ireland and globally. Join Irish Girl Guides for a Camp at Home
------------------------------------------------------------

Members of Irish Girl Guides (IGG) are inviting children and young people around the country to join them for a sustainability-themed Camp At Home event on the weekend of June 5-7, coinciding with World Environment Day. The last Camp At Home saw thousands of IGG members camping in tents in their gardens or in makeshift shelters or dens they made inside, and members hope the next event will be even bigger. Somali Arklow Documentary - Short Film

An Irish First: Blossom Ireland's Accessible Webinar
------------------------------------------------------------

Blossom Ireland has recorded the first accessible webinar for young people with intellectual disabilities in Ireland – a premiere for a disability organisation in a world of social distancing. The topic of the webinar is “Looking after myself and planning my day”, and it is aimed at all children and young people with intellectual disabilities. ** Traveller Counselling: New Online Service

In response to the Covid-19 situation, the Traveller Counselling Service is now offering online counselling to adult members of the Traveller community. The counselling sessions are one-to-one, safe, confidential, and free of charge. Access online counselling here >> ([link removed])


** ECO-UNESCO Eco-Week 2020
------------------------------------------------------------

Currently underway, this week-long initiative includes a series of online events focused on the topics of food, fashion, fitness, & future. These events will take place as webinars, podcasts, content, talks, workshops, competitions, challenges, wellbeing and fitness activities, and televised events. ** Free Skills Training: LGBTI+ Inclusive Youth Services

BeLonG To Youth Services and the City of Dublin Youth Service Board have launched free online LGBTI+ skills training for youth workers, voluntary youth club leaders and volunteers in youth services, including videos, exercises, and quizzes to equip educators to become better at listening to, understanding, responding to and supporting LGBT+ young people. ** BeLonG To's Youth Groups Move Online
------------------------------------------------------------

BeLonG To's youth groups offer a space for LGBTI+ young people to connect with their peers, have some fun, feel a sense of community and get the support they need from expert youth workers. Online youth groups will take place every week and are open to any LGBTI+ young people between 13 and 24 years who have been accessing BeLonG To's groups previously. ** Girls' Brigade Ireland: Virtual Summer Celebration

In place of its usual end-of-term outings and prizegivings, the Girls’ Brigade Ireland will hold a virtual summer celebration via social media on Saturday, May 30th from 2pm. The celebration will include a talent show and workshops for all ages. More info here >> ([link removed])


** Young People Reach Out Through Lockdown

Localise Youth Volunteers facilitate hundreds of community projects throughout the year, and the Covid-19 situation hasn't deterred them. Their latest project is a powerful collaboration with Cheshire Ireland. Volunteers recorded personalised digital messages for Cheshire Ireland service users who have been isolated due to Covid-19, and also developed online table quizzes which will begin to be rolled out this week. ** Gaisce at Home

Gaisce – The President’s Award launched ‘Gaisce at Home’/ ‘Gaisce sa Bhaile’ to encourage young people, precisely as the country and the world responds to the challenge of Covid-19, to stay active and engaged in their personal development and community action.

As part of the campaign, Gaisce is also welcoming young people aged 15-25 who are interested in signing up for the Award to contact [email protected]. ** Young Social Innovators - Open Call for Teenagers

Young Social Innovators is calling on teens all over Ireland to explore, create, and innovate around issues relating to Covid-19. The campaign calls on teenagers to submit creative ideas to tackle issues they see at home and in their communities. All those who submit ideas will receive certification recognising their contribution, and ideas with the highest potential for impact will pitched to a varied panel of industry leaders. The transition to working from home has been hugely challenging for many charities and NGOs, particularly for those whose members have never had to work remotely before. To help your organisation continue its valuable work, Business in the Community Ireland has partnered with Google Ireland to offer free volunteer support. Google volunteers will conduct a needs assessment to discover what online services your organisation requires to effectively work remotely, then offer support sessions to help your team use these resources effectively. ** UCC Research Survey: Disruption to Work During Covid-19

Severe disruptions to employment and to the labour market in recent weeks and months have seen many experience sudden job loss or work disruption. ** Plan International Survey
------------------------------------------------------------

Plan International, Ireland’s Youth Advisory Panel, is conducting research to understand the extent that young people in Ireland are affected by online harassment: from trolling and abuse to physical threats, girls are harassed and face violence when they engage in public interaction online. This hostility is a barrier to girls’ leadership in the wider movement for gender equality. Plan International is looking for young people between the ages of 15-24 - of all genders - to take part. Debate Team Leader Training for Young People

The Debate Exchange Activity brings together young people from diverse backgrounds and students from higher education to meet online, debate topics of their choice, and develop debate skills with the support of a regional resource network of trained Debate Team Leaders. ** Global Survey on Youth and Covid-19

The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and its partners are conducting a global survey on the impact of Covid-19 on youth rights, with a focus on employment and education. Results will be shared widely to help inform governments, employers and workers organisations, and Decent Jobs for Youth partners as they navigate these unprecedented times with a profound commitment to protect young people, their rights, voices, and opportunities for decent work. ** Alcohol and Health Alliance Ireland - Covid-19 Survey

AAI is contributing to an international study of personal experiences and drinking behaviour as we move through the Covid-19 situation, and would appreciate the support of our members in taking and disseminating a brief survey. Data will contribute to a better understanding of consumption patterns and health outcomes during times of pandemic or similar events involving restrictions, and should support evidence-based policy action and decisions in times of crises to protect health and well-being. Webinar: Living and Learning Empathy During Covid-19

This webinar will consider the human rights impact of Covid-19 through contributions from academics, activists and policy makers. Concerns have been raised globally about discrimination in access to healthcare, including the use of medical triage and rationing approaches which endanger the lives of disabled people. The session on May 21 will consider how the rights of persons with disabilities can be respected, protected, and fulfilled at this time, and what lessons we can all learn from disability activists which may endure beyond this pandemic. ** Irish Youth Foundation Research Project

The Irish Youth Foundation is recruiting young people from around the country (aged 16-24) to participate in a research project about key issues facing youth in Ireland today, including the impact of Covid-19 on their lives, mental health, and education. IYF seeks to understand what is important to young people at this time and use this information to lobby government and direct its fundraising work. The Irish Traveller Movement is recruiting 16 young Travellers, aged between 15 and 21, to participate in a Community Leadership Programme. The Programme covers components of a Fetac level 5 course in Community Development and Leadership.
