Celebrate the successes we shared throughout 2024 with us.
** A WORD FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
------------------------------------------------------------
** National Day Laborer Organizing Network
------------------------------------------------------------
This year we partnered with National Day Laborer Organizing Network. Through them, we had the opportunity to participate in surveys across Northern and Southern California, offering a deeper understanding of the diverse migrant experiences across the state. From Oakland to Santa Rosa, Santa Clara, and beyond, it was eye-opening to witness firsthand the challenges faced by laborers from various backgrounds.
In addition to this fieldwork, we also participated in a training workshop designed for Popular Migrant Defense Committees. The training was a powerful reminder of the importance of grassroots organizing and the impact of these movements in changing political realities for marginalized people.
The journey of learning, sharing, and advocating for laborers has been both humbling and inspiring. As we continue this important work, we are committed to lifting the voices of all workers and pushing for the systemic changes needed to ensure their rights are respected and their dignity upheld.
** Funeraria La Paz

Funeraria La Paz has been collaborating with Border Angels since 2022, serving as a trusted partner in assisting families who are desperately trying to return their loved ones to their home countries. We are honored to continue this partnership, knowing that Funeraria La Paz genuinely cares about the families it serves and its community. In addition to our joint efforts on the Volviendo a Casa program, which has become quite successful, they have also become donors to our organization.
We are extremely grateful to Funeraria La Paz for helping us provide high-quality and compassionate services to the families involved in our Volviendo a Casa program. Their support ensures that these families can have a proper burial and a final goodbye without facing unnecessary difficulties. Moreover, their financial contributions help us continue our Water Drop training programs, which provide essential safety training to our volunteers.
Thank you, Funeraria La Paz, for your continued support. We look forward to growing our partnership and increasing our impact on the community.

** The Caravan of Love:
------------------------------------------------------------
The Caravan of Love is a program born from a spirit of love and compassion through which our supporters and volunteers come together to drive in caravan style into Tijuana, to deliver much-needed donations to 14 shelters across the city. These donations range from clothing and essential living items to toys for children, bringing much-needed relief to individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds. By connecting directly with shelters that serve diverse communities, the Caravan of Love fosters solidarity and support for those facing hardship in Tijuana.
This year, we completed 8 Caravans of Love, with 49 volunteers and 29 cars filled with donations. Together, we served 317 people across 12 shelters in Tijuana, providing food, water, clothes, toys, glasses, and so much more.
** The Water Drop:
------------------------------------------------------------
In response to the deadly consequences of Operation Gatekeeper, Border Angels conducts monthly water drops in the California desert, leaving life-saving supplies along migrant paths. Over 11,000 migrants have died, primarily from dehydration, and many more remain missing. Our trained volunteers deliver water, food, and messages of love to provide a vital lifeline to those at risk. This program offers volunteers the chance to directly impact the lives of migrants in one of the most dangerous regions.
This year Border Angels completed 10 water drops, delivered 221 gallons of water, 500 cans of high-protein food, and countless messages of love to those in need. With 257 volunteers, we made a real difference in the desert.
** Volviendo A Casa:
------------------------------------------------------------
The Volviendo a Casa (Returning Home) program provides crucial support to low-income families who cannot afford the expenses of transporting and properly burying their loved ones who have died while migrating. Through this program, we cover funeral and transportation costs, allowing families the opportunity to bring their loved ones home and say their final goodbyes. It is our hope to offer both relief and dignity in their time of loss, ensuring migrants are treated with respect in life and death.
This year, the Volviendo a Casa program has assisted with 11 cases, bringing the total to 30 since its inception. We’ve partnered with 9 funeral homes to help families, with an average cost of $4,612 per case, ensuring that loved ones receive a dignified return home and proper burial.
** Familias Reunidas Bond Program:
------------------------------------------------------------
Launched in December 2019, the Familias Reunidas Bond Fund helps support individuals held in ICE detention centers who are unable to afford bond. Our goal is to raise awareness of the complex immigration system and its disproportionate impact on migrants of color, while providing financial assistance to reunite families and advocate for justice.
This year, the Familias Reunidas Bond Fund helped free 18 individuals, bringing the total to 140. The average bond cost was $6,285. This program has provided support to people from over 30 different countries of origin, helping families reunite and navigate the immigration system.
** Day Laborer Outreach, Educational Water Drops, and More
------------------------------------------------------------
Our Educational Program offers engaging presentations and hands-on activities for schools, community groups, staff, and more. Through a combination of Day Labor Outreaches, Educational Water Drops, and visits to significant sites like Chicano Park and Friendship Park, we provide valuable learning experiences about immigration, border issues, and social justice. These interactive programs aim to raise awareness, foster empathy, and inspire action, while deepening understanding of the challenges faced by migrants and underserved communities.
This year, our Educational Program engaged 132 participants through 8 Day Labor Outreach events, distributing 520 packages. We reached 160 individuals with 7 presentations and conducted 2 Educational Water Drops, leaving 20 gallons of water and 30 survival packages in the desert. These initiatives continue to raise awareness and provide vital support to migrant communities.
Thanks to your unwavering support, Border Angels’ community programs are saving lives and empowering volunteers to make a real difference. You are the change agent that makes this possible. Together, we’ve accomplished so much, but there’s still so much more to be done.
As we look ahead to 2025, we need your help to ensure our mission continues to grow and thrive. Our longevity and success have always been driven by compassionate individuals like you, and your year-end contribution can make all the difference.
Please consider making an additional donation today and help us have an even more impactful year ahead.
