Dear John, As we turn the corner toward a new year, I want to take a moment to thank you for all that you do, both for the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) and the wider community of good people working to make this world a better place. With president-elect Donald Trump declaring his opponents the “enemy within,” calling for critics of his stacked Supreme Court to be put in prison, and linking arms with the likes of X’s Elon Musk, now is the perfect time to stand strong for the First Amendment and support alternative voices to a kowtowing corporate media. As the President of CMD’s board and its past executive director, I know how hard the CMD team works to dig behind the scenes to expose the right-wing forces and special interests distorting our democracy. Unlike mainstream outlets and platforms owned by billionaires, like the Washington Post and X, CMD will never bow down and stop speaking truth to power.
