FRA Forestry Forum Meeting Announcement - January 2, 2025

*Date*: Thursday, January 2, 2025

*Location: * Jeff’s Catering" -15 Littlefield Way, Brewer, Maine "

*Time: *

* 5:30 - 6:15 PM - Social “Hour”

* 6:15 – 7:00 PM – Buffet Dinner

* 7:00 – 8:00 PM – Forum Speaker and Discussion

Join Forum Speaker Eric Kingsley from Innovative Natural Resource Solutions as he speaks about *Tariffs – What are They, and How Forest Product Markets Might Change with Them*. Tariffs are in the news – and have the potential to alter the region’s forest economy for the first time in decades.  The incoming Trump Administration has suggested an across-the-board 25% tariff on products from Canada, which has long been fully integrated with the Northeast forest economy.  Logs, pulpwood, lumber and other products regularly cross the border – how might this impact regional trade?

We’ll explore how such a tariff might impact a range of markets, what the initial and second-order effects might be, and who the winners and losers might be under such a policy shift.  "Note – FRA does not have a formal position on proposed tariffs – this discussion is to help understand and explore what the impacts of any such policy might be."

Meeting cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members, payable by cash, check or credit card, and at the door of the event.

Pre-registration is requested to assure an accurate headcount for meals. To register or for more information, please send an email to Eric Kingsley at [email protected] or contact him via phone at 207.233.9910
