Dear friend,
Don’t you love end-of-December emails that encourage donations? I do not. I’m not a fan of them. They pile up. They seem predictable. They can feel opportunistic, as if to seize upon the turn of the calendar year. So, you’re now receiving an end-of-December email from me?! Yes, you are. Let me explain:
Our donations are lagging behind last year and where they need to be for our operation. We don’t know why. They just are. But the other reason I’m writing you is because we have match dollars sitting on the table from two Christian Century friends who offered to match every gift in these last two months of 2024, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.
Because the clock is running out on this couple’s act of love for the Century, I decided to risk your judgment and send this email. If you’ve already given to the match campaign, thank you so much. If you haven’t yet given, please consider doing so. I’m confident you enjoy The Christian Century magazine. We’re there for you 12 months a year. Now respond as your heart or pocketbook allows.
Gratefully yours,

Peter W. Marty, Editor/Publisher
