John,
After the year we’ve had, it can be somewhat difficult to find joy. As we close out 2024 and enter 2025, I wanted to point out a few things that we here at the Coalition on Human Needs are grateful for in 2024:
-
Unions. From the UAW to Starbucks workers to Amazon workers to hotel workers, unions won wage increases and better benefits for their members. The wins are offsetting income inequality. And public approval of unions is at 70%―a high not seen since the 1960s.1
-
The hundreds of thousands of messages sent, calls made, and petitions signed as members of the CHN community called on Congress to pass responsible legislation and protect human needs. Together we defended the rights of immigrants, voting rights, fair tax policies, and so much more.
-
You. We at CHN are thankful for the individuals and member groups who support CHN through your contributions. We are so thankful for the work that you do, responding to our requests to contact officials or talk to the press. We appreciate the hundreds of thousands of individuals who support CHN through your actions, petition signatures, and calls and emails to Congress. We could not take on this great work without your action and support.
We have some big fights ahead of us in 2025 and we will continue to stand up to political bullies with your continued support.
Consider making a year-end donation of $5 to help us push forward in 2025.

-- MEREDITH'S EMAIL --
John,
As we close out 2024 we want to thank you for your powerful work on behalf of vulnerable communities, fighting dangerous legislation and demanding critical investments in health care, housing, nutrition, and more.
As we head toward the New Year, we need to grab onto the people, things, and ideas that give us gladness, that surprise us, take us out of ourselves, make us laugh, and remind us of what endures.
We are grateful for you and your advocacy on behalf of millions of people every single day.
The Coalition on Human Needs plays a critical role in fighting back against reckless cuts in programs and services, which extremists want to use to pay for more tax cuts for the rich. But we’re doing more than defending against cuts. We’re demanding critical investments in human needs programs so that no one is left behind. Many individuals, families, and communities are raising their voices across the country, and counting on us to amplify their voices in Washington, D.C.
Will you give a year-end tax-deductible donation of $5 to help us with this critical work?

Your friends at the Coalition on Human Needs are so grateful for the work we are doing together. We have learned from each other, supported each other, and have started the essential work of showing the need for a comprehensive approach to government that lifts up the most vulnerable. We know that when more child care and home care workers earn decent pay, it helps build communities. We know that when people can access health care and affordable housing, it means stability that helps them and their children and makes our society stronger. And, we know pernicious inequities of race and poverty are holding us back.
Now, in this season of love and hope, we wish you respite and joy, health and connection to loved ones. Rest up. Enjoy as many full-throated laughs as you can. Eat something delicious. Hug those you love! Live in peace.
And, once again, thank you for all you do to fight for the needs of working families, the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
Please, help us continue this mission with an end-of-year tax-deductible donation today.
