I hope you’ve been enjoying a restful holiday season! With the new year only hours away, I’m reflecting on how much we accomplished in 2024:

✍️ Signed my comprehensive housing production bill into law — my #1 top priority and the only bill I introduced in this year’s legislative session. Oregon communities need a menu of new tools and supports to increase our housing supply.

🚨Declared a 90-day state of emergency on fentanyl in downtown Portland, which dramatically increased coordination between government and community partners, increased the distribution of overdose-reversal medication throughout the city, and improved safety and livability with new lighting, security measures, and crime-preventing strategies. While the work is not done, progress is happening.

🎒Secured funding from the legislature for summer learning programs , which helped thousands of Oregon students stay on track during the summer months.

🚌 Visited all nine of Oregon’s federally recognized Tribal Nations , meeting with Tribal leaders and community members to hear their concerns, learn about their priorities firsthand, and understand their role in supporting Oregonians in rural communities.

💰 Signed bipartisan campaign finance reform legislation into law, establishing future caps on campaign contributions.

💊 Protected reproductive health care by replenishing our state’s stockpile of mifepristone to last through the next four years, proactively protecting access to abortion medication in our state.

And these are just the highlights!

It’s been a busy year, and I expect even more challenges in the new year with the changing political landscape in Washington, D.C. But 2025 also promises new opportunities to make life better for Oregonians — and I won’t let up or get distracted because there’s too much to do.
