Laura Loomer attacks "welfare queen" Elon Musk as MAGA feud continues
We're still three weeks away from inauguration and the jackals jockeying for influence over Donald Trump continue to attack each other in the most predictable, ongoing plot twist of the season. During a recent appearance on convicted felon Steve Bannon's War Room podcast, the proudly racist, anti-immigrant hardliner Laura Loomer called Elon Musk a billionaire "welfare queen" and accused him of undermining America's security with secret, back-channel meetings with Iran and China. Loomer, a self-described “white advocate,” has been in a social media brawl with the ketamine enthusiast for the last week over Musk’s ardent defense of the H-1B work visa program, which he claimed offers a solution to a “permanent shortage of excellent engineering talent” in the US. Super racist, far-right opponents of the immigration program — and Musk’s position — claim that the H-1B visa disincentivizes companies to hire American labor. In turn, Musk has called for these contemptible "fools" to be purged from the Republican Party entirely. Incredible stuff for a president trying to appease both the "America First!" MAGA base, whose nativist fears he amped up to 11 with incendiary rhetoric on the campaign trail, AND the billionaire tech-bro vampires who bankrolled Donald's return to power and have nothing but contempt for his red-hat army. [RETWEET THAT!]

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump LOSES appeal in case finding him liable for sexual abuse and defamation
In a surprise, 11th-hour twist to an otherwise banner year for Donald Trump running absolutely roughshod over the rule of law, the MAGA cult leader lost his latest appeal trying to overturn the $5 million judgement that found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation of former Elle magazine write E. Jean Carroll. Brian Tyler Cohen and Gleen Kirschner discuss what it all means for the president-elect on the latest episode of The Legal Breakdown.

Trump brags about being Elon Musk's landlord
The world’s richest man-toddler is reportedly a tenant of Donald Trump’s, much to the president-elect’s delight. The New York Times reports that Elon Musk is renting out one of the cottages on the MAGA cult leader's Mar-a-Lago property that typically prices out at $2,000 per night. Though it’s unclear how much Musk will end up paying for his stay, the cottage, named Banyan, is several hundred feet away from the main house on Mar-a-Lago and Trump has reportedly been bragging to people about the tech mogul’s living arrangement. The Times adds that Musk moved into the cottage around Election Day, has spent countless hours at Donald's side as he prepares his transition back into the White House, and is known around the club’s staff to make meal requests outside normal kitchen hours.

UnitedHealth CEO touts company’s record year after colleague’s assassination
Andrew Witty, the CEO of UnitedHealth Group has quietly been boasting that 2024 has been a record year financially, despite widespread public outrage and understandable workplace unease following the targeted killing of his fellow executive, Brian Thompson, earlier this month in New York City. UnitedHealthcare provides insurance coverage for more than 50 million people and reported nearly $300 billion in revenue through September of this year, and Witty has privately assured fellow executives and investors — ya know, the real stakeholders when it comes to the health and welfare of the American people — that the company is on pace to smash previous record profits. Fun fact: "The CEOs of the six major national insurers earned a combined $122,970,614 in total compensation in 2023, according to a Fierce Healthcare analysis of annual proxy filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission." And at the top of that list? Why, none other than Andrew Witty, who raked in a cool $23.5 million last year.

Trump gives his "Complete & Total Endorsement" to embattled House Speaker Mike Johnson
The MAGA cult leader came to House Speaker Mike Johnson's defense yesterday in a meandering social media post that first took aim at thieving Democrats, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, and Al Sharpton, among others before eventually proclaiming, "Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!" Johnson cannot afford to lose more than a few Republican votes to retain his tenuous grip on the gavel, and Donald's ringing endorsement — should it last — is clearly meant to shore up critical GOP support after one rep, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, already announced he will be voting against the current speaker in January.
US Treasury says its computers were hacked by a Chinese "threat actor" in a "major incident"
The US Treasury Department said a state-sponsored Chinese hacking operation was able to access third-party software to tap into desktop computers of Treasury employees in what the department is calling "a major incident." The information accessed by the “threat actor” included unclassified documents, according to a letter sent to US senators from the department earlier this month. The US Treasury has been working with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the FBI, and other members of the intelligence community, as well as "third-party forensic investigators to fully characterize the incident and determine its overall impact." For what it's worth, China has denied the allegations. “China consistently opposes all forms of hacking and is firmly against the spread of false information targeting China for political purposes,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters at a daily briefing.

Earthjustice is ready for the fights ahead
Earthjustice: There is no organization quite like Earthjustice. As a nonprofit environmental law organization, Earthjustice forces government agencies to protect species like manatees and wolves. They go to court to stop oil drilling in the Arctic. They partner with frontline communities to reduce toxic, cancer-causing pollution. Earthjustice even lobbies Congress to pass critical climate legislation. The law is the most powerful tool we have to secure a healthy and sustainable future for all. And polluting industries and the politicians in their pockets know it — that’s why they’re scheming to dodge and even dismantle the nation’s bedrock environmental laws. While corporations use their high-paid lawyers to roll back regulations and poison our air, Earthjustice is on the front lines fighting to make sure they don't get their way. Our clean air, clean water, and sustainable future hinge on Earthjustice's legal team winning big fights behind the scenes — but they don't have the war chest of billionaires to do it with. That’s why a group of Earthjustice supporters has come together to create the Rapid Response Legal Fund, which will be MATCHING your donation $2:$1, tripling your impact from December 26-31! Will you chip in to Earthjustice and help them in their mission?
