As the year comes to a close, we are just $8,378 from our $250,000 end-of-year goal — and we need your help to close out 2024 in a meaningful way!

Help us celebrate some of our top 2024 achievements: 

 
1. Our Keepers of the Earth Fund supported 83 projects in 25 countries on issues related to land defense and autonomy; climate change resilience, language, cultures, and the transmission of Indigenous knowledge; food sovereignty and Indigenous economies; and the various forms of resistance to mining for the energy transition, totaling $614,222
 
2. Our Indigenous Community Media Fund distributed $480,000 to 57 Indigenous communication projects that are benefitting Indigenous Peoples in 27 countries. 

3. We distributed $32,700 in funding to 6 Indigenous defenders in need of urgent support to stay safe.

4. 46 Indigenous women communicators participated in workshops and exchanges, including training in radio production and proposal writing.

5. 22 Indigenous women communicators gathered to attend the 2024 Indigenous Women Radio Broadcasters Exchange in Tlayacapan, Morelos, Mexico.

6. 26 Indigenous Youth Fellowships were awarded to Indigenous youth in 18 countries with projects focusing on language revitalization, land protection, media and art, and reclaiming of traditions, among other themes.

7. We submitted 4 reports to UN monitoring mechanisms documenting and denouncing Indigenous rights violations and making recommendations to States seeking justice.

8. Our Indigenous Rights Radio program produced 174 programs related to Indigenous rights, Mother Earth, and issues affecting communities, translated in over 30 languages.

9. We held 3 Bazaars that hosted 43 vendors, impacting the lives of over 4,000 Indigenous people representing 55 Indigenous communities globally.

10. In October, Cultural Survival supported the organization of the JUST TRANSITION Summit: Indigenous Peoples’ Perspectives, Knowledge, and Lived ExperiencesThe Summit was organized by the Indigenous Peoples Global Coordinating Committee in cooperation with the SIRGE Coalition, bringing together nearly 100 Indigenous Peoples’ leaders from around the world. As a result of the Summit, an unanimous agreement on defining a Just Transition from an Indigenous perspective was reached. Learn more here
