As the Global Executive Director of Equality Now, I am proud of all we’ve accomplished in the name of gender equality, and I hope you are too. As a supporter of our work, our successes are also yours – together, we have continued to make progress in achieving a more gender-equal world rooted in legal equality.

Looking back...


In 2023 alone, we improved access to justice for 39.2 million women and girls worldwide and helped change 14 laws in 12 countries.

This year, we’ve had many successes, including in The Gambia, where we helped uphold a ban against female genital mutilation; in Colombia, where a law was passed last month to set the minimum age of marriage to 18 without exception; and in South Asia with the launch of a new coalition to address sexual violence against women and girls living in the region. We also supported the development of new laws on technology-facilitated gender-based violence and helped develop a model law, informed by the experiences of survivors, that will launch in 2025.

Looking forward...


With your support in 2025, we aim to:
  • Convene and support collaborative action amongst our vast network of global partners and growing coalitions in MENA, Eurasia, Africa, South Asia, and the Americas.
  • Launch guidelines for judges to adjudicate cases on sexual violence and sexual exploitation and support training for judges in Bolivia, Colombia, and beyond so that more victims of sexual violence, particularly those with disabilities, have access to justice.
  • Train young women from the Middle East and North Africa on legal and media advocacy to help end child marriage and expand women’s financial rights in the region.
  • Continue pursuing strategic litigation cases, including a case in Georgia through which we hope to strengthen legal protections against the misuse of defamation laws to silence women who speak out about sexual violence and harassment; 
  • Help create new laws that will protect women, girls, and all vulnerable populations in the digital world, and so much more.
