Dear John,
For nearly 35 years, Outright International has been fueling a global network of LGBTIQ activists and organizations fighting tirelessly against oppression, advocating for equal rights, and breaking down barriers that prevent LGBTIQ people from living freely and without fear.
In regions like the Caribbean, where I live and work, this fight is deeply personal. Discriminatory laws and societal judgment have long forced many in my community to hide our love in the shadows.
But something is shifting. This year, I saw something extraordinary: photos of couples boldly sharing their joy — holding hands, exchanging vows, and celebrating partnerships on social media.
These ceremonies are not yet legal in some parts of the Caribbean, but their public celebration feels revolutionary. It’s a newfound courage I didn’t see just a few years ago. It’s a sign of progress.
