Dear John,
Earlier this year, I left Texas. Just two days before, I saw a look and sound in my children’s eyes and voice that I had not seen or heard before. “Dad, did you hear what happened?” I knew then that I had to leave Texas.
To truly appreciate what it would take for me to leave Texas, you have to know how long my family has been in Texas, and how far back my roots go, all the way back to the early 1800s, on both my mother’s and father’s side of the family. On my mother’s side, we started one of the first churches in Central Texas, now part of a town called “Rockne.” On my father’s side from South Texas (Falfurrias near Kingsville), we have family who served on King Ranch and according to my father and “folklore” one of our relatives was on the last cattle drive on the Chisolm Trail. I tried to “leave” Texas once before, for an incredible Christian law opportunity, but that door closed on it’s own before the day came for me to leave. And growing up in Houston, it seemed I had more than enough to keep me happy in the Lone Star State.
So, I am completely convinced, year after year, that God has me right where He wants me, and right where I want to be – Texas. So leaving Texas is not something that excites me and frankly the idea sounds as foolish as asking someone from New York to give me their opinion on the best BBQ or queso in Texas!
So I didn’t leave Texas very long, but long enough to show the world how important Texas is to America. That’s why I need you to donate more today than you have ever donated before, by midnight December 31st. Every time we work at Texas Values, whether its in state or during a brief trip out of state, we are always doing it to benefit Texas! And the work we finish this year, and the historic and world-changing work we are about to do at the Texas Capitol during the 2025 Texas Legislative Session is going to mean we all have to dig deep. Why? Because these next 12 months might be the best chance we have ever had to preserve and grow our Texas Values, and use the strength of Texas to turn America back in the right direction, alongside the leadership of our new President.
But earlier this year, I left Texas. Here’s why. The moment I heard that President Trump had been shot, I knew I had to leave and firmly commit to serving as a National Delegate at Large for the RNC (Republican National Convention) event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July of this year. I had already decided to go on paper, but my heart and mind were making me think twice as work and family commitments were adding up. “Dad, did you hear? Someone shot Donald Trump!” My son was shocked, worried, in disbelief. He didn’t say this but the look in his eyes said to me “Dad, what are we going to do??” I knew then that I must board that plane for Milwaukee and serve my state, and as a result, I was I was able to cast the most important vote of my life, and I was part of over 20 media interviews that highlighted all the great work of Texans like you.
I would usually put a list in this type of email but you can go to our website or click this video to see the long and important list of the victories you helped us accomplish this year. I wanted this email to be more personal, so you know more about who is leading Texas Values before you decide to invest.
The question now is, what are you going to do?? I am doing my part, every day, but the historic work we are about to do can only be done if you show up by making your most generous donation today!! Making a donation doesn’t require you to leave Texas, thank God! After you make your donation, please forward this email to 2-3 family and friends and tell them that Texas Values is the best investment they can make for faith, family and freedom in Texas!
We have a $125,000 Matching Grant in place until midnight on December 31st. We still need to raise over $200,000 to stay strong and fully fund what we do. Don’t wait, donate now!!
