Statement from One Nation Leader Senator Pauline Hanson

I’m suspicious that Premier Palaszczuk’s management of Covid-19 has now transitioned from that of a health crisis to one that is increasingly a convenient Labor campaigning platform.

I’m also concerned that the Premier, who is elected by the people, repeatedly defers her authority to an unelected health bureaucrat who has free reign to implement any restrictions she wants.

In my view, it’s a dangerous power structure that is taking Queensland down a path of economic destruction.
To put it bluntly, the Premier conveniently has absolved herself of responsibility to actually lead. She also has given herself a convenient scapegoat with which to deflect any criticism.

Queenslanders now need leadership that looks honestly at the data and recognises that we are overdue and ready to re-open.

The initial reasoning for restrictions was of course to manage the virus so that our hospital emergency wards would not be overwhelmed. Thanks to the courage and discipline of Queenslanders, we have achieved that target and our hospitals have capacity.

The reality is that virus cases have dropped to levels that are so low, that it is safe to allow Queenslanders to transition to lives that are much closer to normality. We should re-open the borders so we can again host the NSW tourists who are so important to our economy.

Hundreds of tour operators, resorts and managers face closure and bankruptcy if we don’t act now.
On the state border closures, I’m pushing to restore freedom of travel for Australian residents to help rebuild the economy and allow families to meet again.

Premier Palaszczuk is obviously relishing the limelight of her daily media briefings where she can’t help but also promote Labor’s policies. To prolong the crisis so she can push her campaign interests is an abuse of her position and reflects poorly on her leadership.

Queenslanders need a leader who is for the people, not a self-interested dictator.

One Nation Backs Our Farmers

Statement from One Nation MP Stephen Andrew

Backing our farmers instead of bashing them would provide a far greater benefit to the Great Barrier Reef and local jobs. I have written to both the Prime Minister and the Queensland Premier, asking for taxpayer funding to be pulled from the Reef 2050 Water Quality program.

Millions of dollars have already been wasted on studies and projects that do nothing but demonise farmers. All they do is tell us that greenies hate farmers and we don’t need a multi-million dollar study to tell us that. If a fraction of that money was used to back farmers, there could be immediate improvements in water quality on the reef and more jobs in regional Queensland. Recently, I met with farmers Graham Blackburn and Allan Parker to discuss how fallow crops can help regenerate the soil and, at the same time, prevent run-off from their farms. But fallow crops are no longer economically viable due to high costs for water and electricity.

State and Federal governments have failed farmers by allowing electricity and water prices to skyrocket while billions of dollars were thrown at the reef without any positive outcome. If we are going to kickstart Queensland coming out of this pandemic, we won’t do it by throwing the $2.7 billion these governments have committed to the reef. We keep throwing buckets of money at studies and all we get back is farmer-bashing and recommendations for more money to be spent on studies.

Crops like soy and mung beans are great fallow crops for the soil and the reef but they are only economically viable with plentiful water. If the Queensland Labor government stopped ripping off farmers with electricity and water prices, farmers would not only provide better outcomes for the reef but would provide more employment in the local community.

Farmers not only provide food for the nation and for export but put food on the table for themselves and their local community. When a farmer grows a crop, the majority of the money goes around the local community and that is exactly what we need if we are going to kickstart Queensland in 2020.

One Nation Victoria President Demands Answers on State’s Virus Recovery
Victorians are now starting to see lockdown restrictions easing, but they are being kept guessing as to the Andrews Labor Government’s economic recovery strategy, which seems shrouded in the shadows.

To date, there have been no details and no transparency, which makes you seriously doubt if Mr Andrews even has a recovery plan.

Victoria’s economic recovery may see the state turning to infrastructure projects and, potentially, foreign investments, to foot a bill in the billions of dollars that will help jump-start our state and get us “on the move”.

One Nation Victoria believes in strengthening our economy by supporting the Australian made and owned manufacturing industry, together with economic policies that engage, activate, and put Australians and Australian-owned businesses first.

One Nation Victoria’s strategy would see a reduction in the risk and dependency on foreign entities and interests while stimulating our economy by combining:
* Australian made and owned materials -used to support our local manufacturing,
* Employ Australian workers to target the recent spike in unemployment, and,
* Engage Australian-owned businesses to build Victoria’s infrastructure projects.

One Nation does not oppose foreign investment in which the controlling ownership remains Australian. This ensures that the majority of profits will stay in Australia and be reinvested here to continue building and strengthening our economy while ensuring minimal risk to national security.

One Nation strongly urges the Andrews Government to show the economic leadership needed. We believe it is time to disclose fully the details of the Government’s economic recovery plan for Victoria, reveal where Mr Andrews will source the billions of dollars needed, and come clean with the details of any and all deals that he intends to activate to stimulate the recovery.

As always, One Nation stands for responsible, accountable, and transparent government. Victorians have a right to know what Mr Andrews and Victoria Labor have signed up to, what our taxes will be used for and what the potential risks are.

How long will Victorians have to wait for the Andrews Labor Government to take steps that provide some faith in his competence to lead our state out of this economic rut?

The time for answers and action is now.

While you're here, we'd love to ask a favour. We are a party with fewer resources than Labor with their union donations and the Liberals with their big corporates, but with your help and by listening to the people, we can achieve real change in parliament for the betterment of the country.

One Nation is run on purely grassroots support. We rely on the contributions of mums, dads, daughters and sons from the top to bottom of Australia to stay running as a party and every dollar counts.

We appreciate times are tough but even a small amount of support makes a difference. Your help enables us to keep up the fight in politics and get Australia back on track.
