Yesterday, it was found that CVS Caremark was cutting reimbursement rates for mail order birth control pills. What does this mean?
It would increase the cost of this service, making it out of reach for tens of thousands of people.

This move directly affects those who are disabled and can’t physically go into a store, those who live in rural areas where pharmacies are too far away, and others who rely on mail order services to receive birth control.
It is completely outrageous and irresponsible to restrict access to these essential services.
People take birth control for a variety of reasons. It’s used to regulate hormones, control cystic acne, and help with issues like cramps and anemia.
A majority of women also said that birth control use has allowed them to take better care of themselves or their families, support themselves financially, complete their education, or keep or get a job. 1
Birth control is a good thing.
But companies with male-dominated leadership like CVS are still dictating what people do with their own body and who has access to essential services.
We live in a country built by and for straight white men. They hold a large amount of positions of power where they decide what’s best for others. So when a company whose board of directors is comprised of 75% men decides it’s more lucrative to raise the prices of mail-order birth control, marginalized communities are the ones left suffering.
I believe that reproductive health services should be free of charge and available to everyone.
When I’m in Congress, I will fight to make sure every person can receive birth control and other reproductive health services free of charge. Let’s put people first, not profit.
